Yesterday Mom took me back to Wompatuck, but we went to a different part of the park than we'd ever been to before. It was so wonderful, and so new! Mom and I were both fascinated. We learned a lot about the park, too. We knew that the place was the old Cohasset Naval Annex, but we didn't really know what went on there. Well, apparently there used to be even more old bunkers and things, but they were destroyed when the place was made a park for safety reasons. One of them, though was preserved intact because of its historical value by an Eagle Scout troop. In this bunker (below), the first nuclear depth charges were produced for submarine warfare during World War II. Mom was a little put off by that, but she got over it enough to take a picture. I was in no way shape or form disturbed by it. I found something to roll in.... and it was nuclear!
Needless to say, Mom was less than thrilled by this eventuality. So I leaned on her, to show her how much I love her.
We kept on walking, because it was such a nice day and it was fun. We found an old flooded-out sewage pipe and this colorful graffiti on another old dead bunker.
Here are some shots from one of the brooks we walked by. The first is the remains of an old dead bridge over the brook. Mom tried to get me to wash off in the brook, but I would have none of it.
Here is me in a much more shallow pond. I didn't want to get rid of my nice new nuclear cologne!
Naturally, I had to get a proper bath when we got home. So did Mom!
Over here are some pictures from a walk last Friday, when it was cold and unpleasant. The first is a rock at the top of the Path to Nowhere. It doesn't go anywhere. There's just this rock. Then you turn around and go back down. It's a steep path, though. This is me trying to hurry Mom down the path.
This is me letting Mom know she's moving too slow. And that's another picture of me on a different Path to Nowhere. We found a lot of them!
