05-20: The Blue Trail

Yesterday Mom and I went back to Pond Meadow Park. This time it was kind of crowded, which meant that Mom didn't have a very good time. She had already hurt her back getting me into the car - I was feeling stubborn - and then she had to keep fighting me every time I wanted to jump up and lick a jogger. Still, I had a good time, and Mom says that's the important thing.

This is me playing in some water. It's not my preferred frolic water, since it was kind of running water, but I am easy to please.

This is the entrance to the Blue Trail.

The blue trail is peppered throughout with these numbered posts. Neither I nor Mom could figure out what the numbers signified, so I peed on one.
I found a little brook on the Blue Trail to play in.
This is the foundation of an old building. Neither I nor Mom knows much about the Pond Meadow site, so we don't know what it is or was. I think it shows that there must be zombies here too, though.

If you look closely you can see the remains of a wall through the brush. More evidence of zombie activity!
This is the end of the Blue Trail. It looks like the beginning of the Blue Trail, only smaller and higher off the ground.

This is me smiling on the bike path.

I found more brackish water to play in. You would never know that there was clear running water on the other side of the path. Fortunately I am a discriminating doggie!

This is a pond meadow at Pond Meadow Park.

I found some clover to eat.

These are my feline siblings, Minette (left) and Talisker (right.) I know this is supposed to be my blog, but believe me, they never get this close to each other!
This is me being sleepy at the end of the day.

05-19: Back to Wompatuck

On Monday, Mom and I went back to Wompatuck. This is Mom's favorite park. It is quiet there. These are some pictures from our trip.
I heard something in the woods. Mom said it was a chipmunk. I'm not entirely sure what a chipmunk is, but I'm sure it would be fun to play with one.
This is me rescuing another stick from a brook.
This is me firmly declining to leave the brook. Mom won.... this time....
This is a very pretty pond at Wompatuck. See how the clouds reflect?
This was just a very pretty and idyllic setting. I love how the tree bends over the brook.
This is me trying to go for a swim.

This is the view from the top of a rock. I insisted that Mom had to go see this view. She kind of resisted for a moment, but then she lightened up and came to see the view.
This is the directions. I think VC means "Visitor Center."
This is another view from the top of another rock. Maybe I'm not a dog. Maybe I'm a mountain goat!
This is an oubliette. At least, I think it's an oubliette. It's right by the side of the brook. That red thing is Mom's toe. I don't like the oubliette, I don't even like to go near it. Zombies probably hide in it. I bet that's what I smell!
This is me being affectionate with Dad after the park.

It's not easy being green!

The lawn was getting out of control. It was up to my waist! So Dad cut it. I went outside to examine his handiwork, and I guess I must have approved because I promptly rolled in it. Now I am green.

A new park!

A couple of days ago, Mom decided to take me to a new park. Unfortunately, it is spring now. These first couple of pictures are of the coating of yellow powder, called "pollen" that was covering our behemoth truck when we left! I don't think mom had that great a time because of the pollen, but I had a blast.

This is me looking for something in the park. I did find a dead mousie, but Mom wouldn't let me eat it. She was pretty firm about that. I wonder if she wanted it for herself?
Even though Mom wouldn't let me have the dead mousie, I had a really good time, as the smile on my little doggie face can attest. I had met another dog, a very small dog who wasn't very fond of me. His people loved me very much though. Everybody loves a Yogi Dog!
This is me after we came home from the park. I am in the kitchen. See how happy I still am?

This is me being happy again.
This is me begging for more food. As a Golden Retriever, I do this frequently.
When we got home from the park, Mom was feeling so lousy that she had to lie down for a while. I was ecstatic, because I got to join her. Aren't I just the prettiest thing you've ever seen? I'm using Mom's bathrobe as a pillow.
Can I get back to my beauty rest now?

This picture is from last night. Mom and Dad completely emptied the bedroom - well, it was mostly Dad. Mom disliked the empty room. She said it looked like a hotel with a dog crate in it. Anyway, Dad found a piece of belly dance costuming that someone had given Mom. She doesn't dance, but it does make a great jingly sound. As a joke, they put it on my head. I loved it! I ran around with it, shaking it to make the jinglies jinglier. They took it off, but I absolutely insisted that they put it back. They let me wear it for a while before they took it off and I went to sleep. I know the picture is blurry, but it was such a fun occasion that I just had to share it!

Yesterday Mom and I went back to Wompatuck State Park. Here are some pictures!
This is one of the paths we took while we were there. It used to be a railroad. Dad doesn't like it when we take these paths. He says that the ties are good places for bees to hide, or snakes. Mom says she doesn't think there are any poisonous snakes in this part of the state, but she isn't positive. We're very careful!
This is me. I don't remember what I was looking for. Paper, probably.

I smelled something here, I don't remember what. But whatever it was, I wanted it. Mom was afraid that I would roll in it, so she made me leave.

This is an object we found on the side of the path. Mom thought it might be a train wheel.
This is an odd space. Dad thinks its a parking lot. Mom thinks its the top of some sort of bunker or structure. I think it's dull.

This is another old abandoned structure. Note the spiffy graffiti!

You cannot tell me that this is safe. How deep is this hole?
I like the twisted metal around it, too.
I got all tired out!
